The Foodie-file: Eat Local Food Shops; the Best of the Provinces

Foodie finds FridaysIf you are traveling in Canada, these specialty gourmet food shops make it easy to find the best of what a province has to offer. In Montreal, Le Marché des Saveurs du Québec has over 7000 products all sourced from within Quebec and a wine shop of all Quebec made product where I purchased Pinnacle Iced Cider from the slopes of Pinnacle Mountain near the historic village of Frelighsburg in the Eastern Townships of Quebec and Île d’Orléans Cassis Liqueur.

Edible BC run by Cecilia Leong is in the Granville market houses a large selection of BC sourced product, if you are lucky Eric Pateman will be there – pick his brain he knows everything about the local foodie finds of BC.

Ontario has joined the buy local bandwagon with the newly opened Culinarium in Toronto. I haven’t been there yet but intend to make my way there soon and will keep you posted with the local treasures founder, Kathleen Mackintosh, is stocking on the shelves.

Is there a food store where you live that sells local products?
