Kelly’s Sticky Buns in Alma, NB
I am travelling in New Brunswick for the weekend and I had every intention of making Kelly’s Sticky Buns, in the quaint little village of Alma right outside Fundy National Park, my find for this week but alas, I was not able to taste this much lauded treat myself. After a three hour train delay into Moncton and a quick stop at Hopewell Rocks (which turned into a 75 minute tour), Kelly had closed up shop by the time I arrived.
However, via rail staff, the very kind people at New Brunswick tourism and the many locals I’ve met on my drive down are all vouching for the deliciousness and integrity of this pick as a New Brunswick local foodie-find so I’m going with everyone’s opinion and passing the message on to you.
If anyone else can vouch for this pastry or has their own local rendition of the sticky bun as a contender for Kelly’s, let me know that I have been led astray.

Yes, I can attest to these delicious, sticky treats. I have been going to Fundy National Park for over 30 years and the very firt thing I do after setting up camp is a trip into Alma to get sticky buns. In fact while driving into the park this is probably the primary thing on my mind. My husband and both my boys love them as well.
Unfortunately, I have never come across a recipe that even come close and I have tried many. I would be very interested if someone has a recipe that comes close.

Our family has made Kelly’s sticky buns part of our vacation tradition for many years, but I’ve found in the last few years that they’re not as good as they used to be. They seem to be more “bun” and less “sticky”, and it’s actually possible to eat them without making a mess of hands and face. However, a trip to Fundy just wouldn’t be the same without them…
