Eight Weeks of Holiday Gifts for Foodie-file Readers

The holidays are fast approaching, so I have decided to treat my Foodie-file readers to EIGHT WEEKS OF HOLIDAY GIFTS I am reinstating the cookbook giveaway! Every week from now until New Year’s, Foodie-file subscribers will have the chance to win one out of a variety of eight, brand new 2008 cookbooks. All you have to do to get in on the fun is click the word e-mail under the e-mail icon on the Foodie-file blog page. Then you will receive the Foodie-file to your inbox whenever I have a new posting. All subscribers are eligible to win a cookbook, you don’t have to be a new subscriber. Have the Foodie-file e-mailed to you so you can learn about new foodie finds across Canada, what goes on in the Canadian Living test kitchen, the latest foodie trends in food and drinks, great recipes and answers to your burning foodie questions from a food expert – me!

Eight subscribers will be picked at random to receive one new 2008 holiday cookbook. All you have to do is subscribe to my blog by e-mail during the next two months, and once a week for the next eight weeks I will give away a cookbook to eight lucky subscribers. These cookbooks are all brand new and in demand – I was able to source them especially for my foodie community.

These are the cookbooks sitting on my desk just waiting to be on your kitchen bookshelf:

To kick my giveaway off, next week’s lucky subscriber will take home our brand new The Complete Canadian Living Baking Book so you can start to make your holiday baking list!

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you at the Foodie-file!

Cynthia, I just tried it – click where it says email instead of on the icon itself. I’ll revise my post! Let me know if that doesn’t work.

    Thanks for trying!

I have a question about “creme fraiche”. I can’t find it in my super markets….would you have a recipe to how to make “creme fraiche”? Thanks in advance.

  • christine says:

Diane, I used you question in Mondays post, check it out for the answer!

I’m a newbie at this site. What I am looking for are simple recipes with 6 ingredients or less. And, to add a wrinkle, my husband has CKD so there are a LOT of ingredients I just can’t use. Can you help?

  • christine picheca says:

    Lorranie,

Is CKD kidney disease? A good dietician could set you up with menus and recipes that would work for your husbands restricted diet. The advanced recipe search on this site lets you choose criteria for your recipe search so you can exclude recipes with certain ingredients and choose recipes with certain dietary guidleines if you know them.

You can also check out our Quick and Easy section, http://www.canadianliving.com/food/quick_and_easy/
I can’t guarantee that they only have 6 ingredients but these recipes are designed as easy meals for weekday cooking with accessible and seasonal ingredients and simple methods.

When I met my husband 15 years ago,( we met on the internet, he is Canadian, and I just recently became on from the US), I never thought of Canadian cooking to be the best. When he bought me a life time sybscription magazine to Canadian Living, we have been using alot of the recips found in these books, and the entire family, and guest love them. I love using the recipes, and reading ideas from all over Canada, and in alot of the magazines published in Canada too.

  • christine picheca says:

Tina, congratulations on making the Canadian connection! Glad you discovered we love food and love cooking. Great that you like the magazine (especially for you since your getting ot for a lifetime!) and please pipe in any time on the Foodie-file to give us the American foodie perspective!
