Last winner of Cookbook Giveaway!
Perhaps you are wondering what happened to my eighth week winner of the cookbook giveaway. I’m sorry I was remiss in awarding the Nigella Lawson Christmas cookbook but it has been given to and claimed by Mary Lyn Brown of Stoney Creek.
Congratulations to all of the book recipients and a big thank you to everyone who participated. Don’t feel too badly if you weren’t a winner, I already have a new stack of books to give away to loyal Foodie-file readers. Next month I will initiate another book cookbook giveaway and once again all Foodie-file subscribers will be eligible to take home a book, old and new subcribers alike.
I’ll let you know when the next Cookbook Giveaway starts. In the mean time I still have three West cookbooks up for grabs and two tickets to a Cheesy Soiree in Toronto. Just submit your favourite grilled cheese recipe to be eligible to take home a book or the tickets.

What do I have to do to win a cookbook ????
I absolutely love cookbooks.
My kids love the regular grilled cheese sandwich made the regular way – except for adding bacon (crispy), tomatoe & mustard!! Yes my family use mustard instead of tomatoe & it is delishious…:)
My family favourite grilled cheese recipe is to soak the bread in beaten egg. Melt a touch of butter in a frying pan and put one slice of bread in. Add cheese and bacon bits. Top with other slice of bread. Fry till one side of sandwich is toasty brown, then flip and fry the other side.
Our family’s way is just to put ketchup on a plate and dip it in, or else serve with tomato soup and dip it in. Then it tastes especially awesome! And simple!
For a real GRILLED treat, spread a whole wheat slice of bread with mayonaise, sliced tomatoes, salt & pepper to taste,a slice of thinly sliced deli ham, topped with velveeta cheese slices and topped with another slice of whole wheat bread. Butter outside of sandwich with margarine & toast in covered frypan on med. heat about 5 mins. Butter top and flip sandwich over and toast second side until golden. YUMMY !!!!
As a busy artist I only have time for quickie lunches. One way we love grilled cheese in our house is to only lightly butter one side of the whole wheat bread. Place the unbuttered side onto the hot griddle for a minute, turn over one piece and put the shredded cheddar cheese or 2 cheese slices, and top with some slivered red onion, flip the hot side on top of the onion. Grill till lightly browned on both sides. Very tasty!!!
