What is Merquen?

Today’s foodie question is from Marlene who writes:
“I purchased a spice called Merquen when in Chile. We had it in a dip served with sopappilas. I was wondering if you have a dip recipe using this spice.”

Quick Clams on The Grill and Last Curtis Stone Cookbook Winner

This week’s “relaxed” entertaining recipe is my brother-in-law’s recipe for Quick Clams on the Grill. I love making these, they are so simple and delicious and kind of unexpected for most people. Make sure you have really good crusty bread to soak up the butter, garlic and clam juices!

Barbecue Poached Salmon with Basil Mayonaise and Curtis Stone Cookbook Winner

This week’s “relaxed” entertaining recipe is for Barbecue Poached Salmon with Basil Mayonnaise. Hopefully it’s warm enough where you live to break out the barbecue, if not you can pop this salmon in the oven. It’s an incredibly easy dish to throw together and it takes no time to cook, totally impressive with very little fuss - my [...]

Tequila Drink Recipes

Tequila is going to be my new summer beverage. While in Mexico I learned about and indulged in many new ways of enjoying this libation outside of the popper with lime and salt. I thought I’d share some tequila cocktails with my foodie-friends. Maybe you can have a few for Mothers Day this weekend!

Fish Tacos and Curtis Stone Cookbook Winner

In honor of my biblical fish experience on the beaches of Puerta Vallarta, my “relaxed” recipe for today is fish tacos. This picture is a version that I had in Mexico where the fish was fried. Very yummy, but this recipe is a lighter version

Tortas Ahogadas and Pico di Gallo Recipes

Translation… Drowned Pork Sandwiches and Chicken Feed - sounds better in Spanish right?
I had these yummy local foods on my Tequila making adventure in Mexico.
Ahogadas means drowned, an appropriate name for these messy tomato sauce laden pulled pork sandwiches. These sandwiches are the street food of Jalisco; sold in sandwich shacks, and family style [...]
